Prof Bridget Bennett
Professor of American Literature and Culture
Bridget Bennett's expertise is in literary and cultural studies broadly. More specifically, she works on the literatures and cultures of the United States. She is especially engaged by representations and meanings of home and the home. What happens to the home under crisis - for instance economic or financial crisis? How do depictions of home function as ways of imagining broader crises? I lead and have led groups of researchers investigating this and other questions from an array of disciplinary perspectives. Her current research is a book-length project on the impact of crisis on the making of the American home from the colonial period to the turn into the twentieth century.
